At the heart of Witnium's innovative services lies the concept of Digital Witnesses. A Digital Witness is a document containing metadata about any type of digital data it attests to. This metadata includes crucial information about the data's origin, purpose, and provenance. The metadata can even be a hash, eliminating the need for sensitive data transfer to create Digital Witnesses.
A Digital Witness consists of two cryptographic hashes created using SHA-512. The first hash, called the Data ID, is the hash of the metadata. The second hash, known as the Witness ID, combines the first hash with the time and date of the Digital Witness's creation. Each Witness ID is unique due to the encoding of time and date, ensuring the individuality of each Digital Witness, even if the metadata is identical.
Following the creation of a Digital Witness, its Witness ID is sent to the Witnium blockchain, where it is stored permanently. This process forms an unchangeable record of the data that the Digital Witness testifies to, providing an immutable layer of trust and security.
Witnium's services are highly relevant and valuable, especially to those in the legal industry. However, their offerings are not just confined to this sector. Businesses, non-profits, and government agencies can all greatly benefit from their digital evidence technology. By leveraging Witnium's services, these organizations can enhance their data verification processes, potentially saving them time and money while improving the reliability of their digital records.
